Trump Voters Are Pleased With His Immigration Halt

Trump voters are happy with President Donald Trump’s executive order on refugees from Middle Eastern countries.

Many supporters from Luzerne County, Penn., found nothing wrong with Trump’s executive order Friday, reports Newsweek.

“Our first priority should be the safety of Americans. Imagine Syria. There are very few records on some of the people because it’s a war zone,” Tino Altavilla, a King’s College freshman, said.

Atlavilla pointed out that while not all Muslims are terrorists, the vetting process needs to be fixed before more people can enter the country.

Sixty percent of Luzerne County went to Trump in the 2016 presidential election; former President Barack Obama won the county by five points in 2012, while Trump won by 20 points in 2016.

Trump’s executive order temporarily halted immigration from seven Middle Eastern countries for 120 days. People from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen are not allowed to enter the U.S. for the next 90 days. (RELATED: Refugees Stunned To Learn They Can’t Enter US After Trump Order)

A previous Sen. Bernie Sanders supporter said he backed Trump’s policy completely.

“I don’t think he’s picked out a religion, he’s picked out countries that need more vetting.I support his policy 100 percent. He just wants to have [agents] in place to process people and make sure they’re vetted,” Stephen Urban, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, said.

A retired school teacher responded to the criticisms that certain countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia are missing from the list. Many of the countries who have contributed to 93 percent of terror attacks were not named in the executive order.

Kathy Dobash said she hoped that Trump would include those countries on the list.

“We need to be safe. We need to feel safe and get control over the terroristic threats. Our president is trying to do that,” Dobash said.
