Trump Slams McCain for Obamacare Vote: He Cost Our Country A Lot

At a political rally in Nashville Tuesday evening, President Trump didn’t pull any punches when it came to placing blame for the Republican failure to repeal Obamacare.

Sure, he didn’t name any names. But it was clear that the President was pointing the finger directly at Arizona Senator John McCain.

You may recall McCain vowed time and again to repeal and replace Obamacare, making it a distinction between him and his Democratic opponent. In fact, he aired television ads promising to continue his role in “leading the fight to stop Obamacare.”

He failed to do that, as you well know, and President Trump wasn’t shy about reminding GOP voters in Tennessee about that failure.

“Then, of course, repeal and replace Obamacare. We had it done, folks. It was done,” the President explained. “Then early in the morning, somebody turned their hand in the wrong direction.

“That cost our country a lot,” he surmised. “That was a very, very terrible thing that happened that night.”

Is he wrong?

“Repeal and replace!” Trump lamented. “And the person who voted that way not only talked repeal and replace! He campaigned on it!”

A recent documentary on McCain indicates that the Senator not only surprised Congress with his vote, he actually risked his life by traveling to cast it.

His daughter, Meghan McCain, revealed that doctors thought her father could hemorrhage if he were to get on a plane and that “it can be dangerous.”

Undeterred, McCain insisted “I have to get back for the healthcare bill.”

“It’s my life and it’s my choice.”

The President added that McCain’s vote in opposition “cost our country $1 trillion in entitlement savings.”

Obamacare would eventually and effectively be repealed when the individual mandate was eliminated with the GOP tax bill in December 2017.

Is Trump right? Did McCain cost the country a lot by failing to keep his promise on repealing Obamacare? Share your thoughts below!
