Next time you hear liberals complain about Trump’s controversial statement that Hillary Clinton is “the co-founder” of ISIS, hit them with this fun little fact – Democrats agree with him!
In a phone interview with CNBC, Trump argued that President Obama and former Secretary of State Clinton could be considered co-founders of the terrorist organization.
“He was the founder of ISIS, absolutely,” Trump said of the president.
“In fact, in many respects, you know they honor President Obama,” Trump added. “ISIS is honoring President Obama. He is the founder of ISIS … And I would say the co-founder would be ‘Crooked Hillary Clinton.’”
In trying to reject Trump’s argument that Obama and Clinton are responsible for the rise of ISIS however, Democrats have inadvertently admitted that Hillary indeed played a prominent role.
Via the Washington Times:
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called Mr. Trump’s claim “verbal poo-poo” and said the real event that spawned the Islamic State, or ISIS, was the 2003 invasion of Iraq, led by then-President George W. Bush, and with Congress’s backing.
“The fact is the invasion of Iraq — the invasion in Iraq under misrepresentations to the American people — has done more to inflame the terrorists than any action you can name,” she said.
Mrs. Pelosi was one of those who voted against the Iraq invasion, saying that she and other top Democrats knew the Bush administration’s justification “not to be true at the time.”
Mrs. Clinton, though, did vote for the Iraq war as a senator, and has been trying to explain that vote since. The vote severely damaged her in her 2008 presidential campaign, and was still a sore point for many Democrats in this year’s primary.
That’s right – Democrats – most of whom voted for the Iraq War – blamed the Iraq War for creating ISIS. And more importantly, Hillary Clinton was one of the most hawkish, pro-Iraq War voices.
The Democrats and Trump are right – Clinton is strongly responsible for the rise of ISIS in Iraq – they just came about their conclusion in a very different manner.
