The Republican National Committee (RNC) has retroactively awarded 2020 presidential hopeful Kirsten Gillibrand with a ‘Border Securer of the Year’ award.
The tongue-in-cheek honor was granted for her work in 2009, when Gillibrand’s presidential aspirations hadn’t yet clouded her judgment on illegal immigration.
One of Gillibrand’s best assets as a Democrat has been her ability to flip-flop on any topic, depending on the political temperature at the time. Border security is one such example.
Whereas she served as a veritable immigration hawk years ago, she is now an extremist who wants open borders and to abolish ICE.
Border Securer of the Year
On her campaign page in 2008, New York’s virtual clone of Hillary Clinton stated the “federal government must provide the necessary resources to secure our borders.”
But wait, there’s more.
She backed up that talk by voting in favor of the Secure Fence Act – a bill authorizing 700 miles of double-layered fencing on the border.
Gillibrand also bragged about supporting legislation that “significantly increase the number of border patrol agents,” said that “English should be made the official language of the United States,” and championed herself as “a firm opponent of any proposal that would give amnesty to illegal aliens.”
A Totally Different Candidate in 2020
Perhaps in a more direct line of evidence that Gillibrand is a raging hypocrite on the topic, she voted to increase funding for ICE and bragged about being “the first member of Congress from New York to oppose drivers licenses for illegal aliens.”
Today, she refers to the border wall as “a waste of money” and tells her rabid lawless base that “we should get rid of ICE.”
As Gillibrand made her way to a 2020 presidential campaign kickoff event this past week, she relented on allowing illegals the opportunity to obtain driver’s licenses as well.

“I think we have to make it possible for people to provide for their families,” she insisted.
“If you looked up ‘political opportunism’ in the dictionary, Kirsten Gillibrand’s photo would be next to it,” RNC spokesman Michael Ahrens opined. “From jumping on the ‘abolish ICE’ bandwagon to turning on the Clintons, Gillibrand always goes where the political wind blows.”
“Don’t let Gillibrand – or any Democrat – forget their party’s long history of supporting many of the same measures President Trump is championing today,” he added.
In the meantime, congratulations on this esteemed award, Senator Gillibrand. If nothing else, it shows you cared about the American people at one point in your career.
