Robert Mueller’s press conference Wednesday may have renewed Democrat hopes of an impeachment effort, but Republican Senators have already vowed to “crush” and “defeat” those dreams.
The Special Counsel made public remarks in which he indicated that a longstanding Justice Department policy prevented him from charging President Trump with obstruction of justice.
“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said that,” Mueller stated. “We did not determine whether the president did commit a crime.”
While the flip side to that is that the investigation also failed to yield evidence that he DID commit a crime, liberals have been foaming at the mouth ever since thinking this was a green light for impeachment.
Several Republican Senators, however, have already declared impeachment to be dead in the water.

No Collusion, No Crime
Yes, the DOJ does have guidelines that prohibit a sitting President from being indicted.
The DOJ guidelines read, “The indictment or criminal prosecution of a sitting President would unconstitutionally undermine the capacity of the executive branch to perform its constitutionally assigned functions.”
Ken Star found Bill Clinton guilty on 13 counts. Mueller has nothing on Trump. It’s over.

But that isn’t the only reason by a longshot. Beyond that, Mueller reiterated the fact that there was no evidence of collusion.
There “was not sufficient evidence to charge a conspiracy” over whether members of the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia during the 2016 election, Mueller explained.
No evidence, no crime. No crime, No way to obstruct. You can’t obstruct an investigation of a crime that never occurred.
The Department of Justice also came to that conclusion.
Republicans Vow to Squash Impeachment
Still, Democrats have upped their impeachment talk after Mueller’s comments.
Pete Buttigieg declared, “This is as close to an impeachment referral as it gets.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed Mueller was “playing a game of Taboo with Congress” and “his word is ‘impeach.'”
Cory Booker said, “Beginning impeachment proceedings is the only path forward.”
Let them try. Republican Senators have vowed to “dispose of” and “defeat” any effort to impeach the President.

“I think it would be disposed of very quickly,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham announced
“It would be defeated,” added Senator John Cornyn. “That’s why all they want to do is talk about it. They know what the outcome would be.”
Not only would impeachment be squashed, but the attempt to take down the President would reinvigorate his supporters and carry him to another remarkable victory in 2020.
