Report: Obama Releasing More ‘Bad Guys’ From Gitmo

Catherine Herridge of Fox News has reported that over a dozen Guantanamo Bay terrorists described as ‘bad guys’ will be released from the prison, with some possibly being transferred out “within days.”

Via Fox News:

The group of 17 detainees expected to be transferred out of Guantanamo Bay as early as this week includes “multiple bad guys” and “Al Qaeda followers,” a source who has reviewed the list told Fox News.

Little is known publicly about which prisoners are being prepared for transfer, but the Obama administration has notified Congress it plans to ship out 17 detainees – some of whom could be transferred within days.

While the identities of the men are closely held, the source who spoke with Fox News said it includes “multiple bad guys … not taxi drivers and cooks.”

It’s particularly important that Obama at least notified Congress of his intentions this time, as his own GAO declared that he had broken the law when he failed to inform them of the Bowe Bergdahl trade.

A majority of the Gitmo detainees released with the Bergdahl swap have at least attempted to rejoin terrorist networks.

A report in March predicted that a majority of those transferred out of Gitmo would return to terrorism.

The current decision to clear out 17 detainees is seen as “part of the administration’s long-term plan to ultimately shutter the detention camp,” Herridge reports.
