Acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller stated there is no evidence of an insider threat to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden on January 20th.
Miller did add that they are continuing to thoroughly vet all National Guardsmen deployed to Washington, D.C. during the event as a safety precaution, however.
“As is normal for military support to large security events, the Department will vet National Guardsmen who are in Washington, D.C.,” he said in a statement.
“While we have no intelligence indicating an insider threat, we are leaving no stone unturned in securing the capital.”
Miller conveyed that “this type of vetting often takes place by law enforcement for significant security events” but added, “the scope of military participation is unique.”

No Insider Threat to the Inauguration
The Associated Press reported Sunday that the FBI was vetting troops due to concerns of insider threats.
Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy told the AP of the possible insider threat, “We need to be conscious of it and we need to put all of the mechanisms in place to thoroughly vet these men and women who would support any operations like this.”
“The D.C. National Guard is also providing additional training to service members as they arrive in D.C. that if they see or hear something that is not appropriate, they should report it to their chain of command,” Miller added in his statement.
Many view the vetting of our National Guardsmen as an insult and have expressed concern that the process was designed to root out those based on their political beliefs.
Are conservative military members considered a threat to the process because a handful of protesters got out of hand a couple of weeks ago at the Capitol?
If you are in the National Guard and are being ‘vetted’ for conservative political beliefs, report it to your IG and open an investigation

Governor Greg Abbott Blasts Vetting of National Guard
Texas Governor Greg Abbott meanwhile, blasted the vetting process for the National Guard members tasked with protecting the inauguration as “offensive.”
“This is the most offensive thing I’ve ever heard,” Abbott tweeted. “No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard.”
He added that he would never authorize Texas Guard members to work in D.C. again if they are “disrespected like this.”
This is the most offensive thing I’ve ever heard.
No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard. @TexasGuard
I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC.
I’ll never do it again if they are disrespected like this.https://t.co/STZDMz7PGm

Last week, reports indicated the lockdown in Washington, D.C. ahead of the inauguration was starting to look like a war zone.
National Guard troops numbering in the tens of thousands are armed and have been given permission to use lethal force.
The FBI warned of armed protests being planned in all 50 state capitals as well as in Washington for the days leading up to the inauguration date.
If the FBI were genuinely concerned about ‘insider threats’ to the nation, they could have vetted people like Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and former Director James Comey within their ranks years ago, all of whom tried to take down a duly-elected President of the United States.
If they had rooted out those bad actors, the President might have coasted to an election victory, and the Capitol riots likely would never have happened.
