U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney says she received a threatening email from a constituent Wednesday morning after a gunman opened fire on Republican members of Congress at a baseball practice.

“One down, 216 to go,” the email began from a constituent who listed a name, address and telephone number in Boonville, Oneida County.

“Did you NOT expect this?” the writer added. “When you take away ordinary peoples very lives in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit(ed). Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance.”

Tenney, R-New Hartford, told that she immediately reported the email to U.S. Capitol Police.

Tenney said she was disturbed by reports the gunman deliberately targeted members of Congress. The members were at a baseball field in Alexandria, Va., practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game on Thursday night. The game between Democrats and Republicans raises money for charity.
