Extreme left Democrat Rep. Nancy Pelosi has been singing the praises of liberal town hall protesters, some of whom are manufacturing hostile environments at Republican speaking events, comparing them to the Founding Fathers.
“The women, men, and children who poured into the streets for the Women’s March, those who turned out at airports shortly thereafter, and town halls in the weeks since, they honor the vision of our founders,” Pelosi said at a joint press conference with Chuck Schumer.
She went on to praise the “public resistance” that people turning out to town halls were engaging in.
But “public resistance” and town hall protests weren’t always praiseworthy for Pelosi.
In 2009, Pelosi penned a column with Steny Hoyer saying protesters at Democrat town hall events were downright “un-American.”
Via The Hill (2009):
The incident was reminiscent of the town halls across the country that came to define Obama and the Democratic Party’s problems with healthcare during a tough August recess. Democratic senators and House members, including House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) were frequently heckled by constituents during the town halls, and the rowdiest events became staples of cable news.
Hoyer and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in August penned a letter to USA Today that termed those trying to shout down lawmakers or fellow citizens at town halls “un-American.”
In the column, they wrote:
“Let the facts be heard. These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades
My, how things have changed since the days of Obama and complete Democrat control in Congress!
We’re curious – Which is it, Ms. Pelosi? Are town hall protesters just like the Founding Fathers, or are they un-American?
I guess it all depends on their party registration.
