A source close to Hillary Clinton has reportedly nixed recent claims that the former Secretary of State is closing the door on a 2020 presidential campaign.
Maggie Haberman, a political reporter for the New York Times, revealed on social media that she spoke to an unnamed source who is “close with Clinton.”
That source said Hillary’s statements were taken too definitively and that everyone was surprised to see the reaction.
In an interview with News 12 Westchester earlier this week, the two-time presidential contest loser appeared to say she would not be running, instead remaining active in the Democrat sphere by helping others who might be able to defeat President Trump.
Haberman’s source, however, said that while it remains unlikely, the door is most definitely not shut. And they even tossed in a little backhanded sexism claim to boot, indicating she and her aides are in peak campaign form already.
The person also says she is extremely unlikely to run, but that she remains bothered that she’s expected to close the door on it when, say, John Kerry isn’t. She has told her team she is waiting at least to see the Mueller report. 2/2

We Told You So
In a column yesterday, we noted that the three words ‘I’m not running’ may have simply been providing her status at that given moment.
Perhaps stating that ‘I’m not running’ is simply stating the reality of that particular day, and she’s still holding out hope of jumping in at a later date.
We also noted that it was just over a month ago when multiple sources claimed she was ‘not closing the door’ on the possibility of running for the White House.
Little, apparently, has changed since then.
Waiting on the Report
Clinton seems to be putting all of her eggs in the ‘Russian collusion’ basket by waiting to see the Mueller report.
The source’s comments echo those in January when aides had said she was waiting to see what happens with the Roger Stone indictment.
CNN White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny reported that the indictment Stone, a longtime Trump associate, along with other legal troubles for the President’s associates, has given Clinton reason to take another look.
“(Crooked) Hillary Clinton confirms she will not run in 2020, rules out a third bid for White House.” Aw-shucks, does that mean I won’t get to run against her again? She will be sorely missed!

“I’m told by three people that as recently as this week, she was telling people that look, given all this news from the indictments, particularly the Roger Stone indictment, she talked to several people, saying ‘look, I’m not closing the doors to this,'” Zeleny claimed.
If she’s waiting on all of these legal matters, is she waiting to see if Trump gets impeached or removed from office? It would seem that’s the only way she could defeat the President – if she’s not actually running against him.
