With her staff citing it as the paramount topic of our time, Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined dozens of students at a climate change protest at Nancy Pelosi’s office.
The group engaged in a sit-in at the House Minority Leader’s Capitol Hill office calling for congressional action on global warming.
For those wondering, a sit-in is a step above a die-in, but just as obnoxious.
Around 150 members of a group known as the Sunrise Movement and Justice Democrats were pleasantly surprised when one of their own ill-informed ilk joined them.

A question that bears examination – Was Ocasio-Cortez officially part of the sit-in if she didn’t actually sit? Regardless, it’s important to understand what stance she is taking here.
“She was elected as part of the movement, she intends to govern as part of the movement,” the future Congresswoman’s spokesperson said.
Here’s where it gets pretty scary, as that same spokesperson admits Ocasio-Cortez sees no single greater issue facing the country today than global warming.
“She thinks there is no other priority that we should be focused on and supports the sunrise movements call for Democrats to create a plan to transition the economy to a zero carbon economy so we have that ready to go when we take back the Presidency in 2020.”
Yikes. To be fair, having such a void between one’s ears likely precludes them from considering multiple platforms as priorities. When you’ve been compared to Billy Madison, expectations are already pretty low.
Old Guard versus the New Guard
It’s hard to imagine this as anything less than an absolute insult to Pelosi. The group Ocasio-Cortez is associating with has responded to efforts by Pelosi to address global warming, referring to them as “toothless.”
They have specifically pointed to 2008, while Pelosi was House Speaker, in a statement criticizing Democrats in power for failing to take “bold enough action on climate change.”
Not to mention, the protest was held in Pelosi’s office when Ocasio-Cortez simply waltzed right in to encourage the riff-raff sitting on the floor.
Ocasio-Cortez can be seen standing in front of a sign which reads, “Step Up or Step Aside.”
Could this be an indication that the New York Democrat will not support Pelosi as Speaker?

Will She Support Speaker Pelosi?
Ocasio-Cortez has maintained that she will not commit to backing Pelosi as Speaker until the elections had completed. Just days in, she’s taking part in protests insider her office, high-fiving the sit-ins, and standing next to a sign suggesting she ‘step aside.’
We’d say that’s a pretty good indication she has no intention of backing Pelosi, pulling her party further in the direction of global warming kooks and protesters.
Just the fact that she knows Pelosi could be Speaker again is a step in the right direction. In an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, the perpetually bumbling Democrat couldn’t figure out if Pelosi’s title was leader, speaker or if they were just descriptive terms and not actual titles.

If this is where the Democrat party is headed, with a woman still searching for her first coherent thought, idolized by people who have time to protest during the work day, then the Republican party will most certainly welcome it.
They won’t have to worry about the Ocasio-Cortez-led party ‘taking back the Presidency in 2020,’ or for a very long time.
