Obama’s CIA Chief Refutes Comey Memo – No Evidence Trump Pressured to Drop Flynn Investigation

Ex-CIA Chief John Brennan refuted reports on the famed Comey memo, saying he was “unaware” of any efforts by President Trump to convince the intelligence community to drop the Mike Flynn investigation.

The memo, allegedly penned by former FBI Director James Comey, indicated the President had pressured him to end the investigation into improprieties by former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

During testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff asked Brennan about reports that Trump tried to persuade intelligence officials to drop the matter.

“No, sir,” Brennan responded.

Schiff, displeased with that response, pressed even further.

Via Townhall:

Testifying in front of the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday, former CIA Director John Brennan said he is unaware of any efforts by President Trump or his staff to pressure the intelligence community into dropping the criminal investigation surrounding former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. Brennan served under President Obama.

Schiff: Are you aware of any efforts the president has made to enlist the help of the intelligence community to push back on a narrative involving the collusion issue?

Brennan: I am unaware of it.

That, we remind you, is Obama’s former CIA Director.

Watch the exchange below …

To date, the legendary Comey memo has been just that – a legend – as it has yet to be released.

Brennan becomes the second major player in the intelligence community to refute that there was any effort by President Trump to dissuade further investigation into Flynn.

The first? Comey himself, who testified under oath weeks ago that nobody within the Trump administration had pressured his agency to halt any investigation for political purposes.

Trump has repeatedly denied the findings of the Comey memo. One reporter asked about it at a joint press conference with the visiting Colombian president.

“No, no, next question,” he said.

The President has said that the entire investigation into so-called Russian collusion has been a “witch hunt.”

Do you think any actual proof will surface that Trump tried to pressure anyone to drop the Flynn investigation? Tell us your thoughts below.
