On March 3, the White House announced that President Trump donated his fourth quarter salary to fight the coronavirus. Long before that, in January and February, President Trump declared the coronavirus a public health emergency, instituted travel restrictions, and took steps to expedite the creation of a vaccine. coronavirus de blasio
NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio was having none of this. Incessantly focused on virtue signaling and opposing anything President Trump does, de Blasio urged New Yorkers to ignore the warnings about coronavirus and “go on with your lives.”
De Blasio’s incompetence, mismanagement, and downplaying of the coronavirus has now put more lives at risk. coronavirus de blasio
As recently as 10 days ago, while schools, restaurants, and gyms were closing across the city, de Blasio ignored coronavirus guidelines to pay one last visit to his favorite gym.
The Mayor’s embarrassing behavior was criticized by many close to him:
“The Mayor’s actions today are inexcusable and reckless,” tweeted Rebecca Katz, a longtime de Blasio confidante.
“She[’s] right. It’s pathetic. Self-involved. Inexcusable,” another longtime adviser to the mayor, Jonathan Rosen, chimed in on Twitter.
“He went to the [expletive] gym?” said one shocked ex-staffer.
NYC health officials have even threatened to resign over de Blasio’s mismanagement of the coronavirus response.
De Blasio’s Trump Derangement Syndrome and virtue signaling are having real consequences. New York is currently the epicenter of the crisis in the United States, with over 23,000 confirmed cases in the city alone.
If de Blasio hadn’t dismissed President Trump’s action and heeded the warnings, things would be different.
