MSNBC host Joy Reid and her guest Elie Mystal discussed in a panel segment that the best way to get to President Trump is by targetting his daughter, Ivanka.
The pair were analyzing reports this past week that suggest federal prosecutors in New York are looking into potential financial wrongdoing by the President’s inaugural committee, in which Ivanka Trump allegedly overcharged clients to host events.
But the conversation quickly shifted from analysis to wild fantasizing.
“This is the first time that we have Ivanka – which is like the only kid he likes – in the crosshairs,” Mystal claimed.
“For a long time I thought that the only way we are really going to get to Trump is if you go after his kids,” he added. “If you put the kids in legal peril, that’s the only thing that’s going to shock him out of his lying, deceitful, cocoon.”
Reid concurred, noting DOJ guidelines prevent a President from being indicted, “but it doesn’t say anything about a sitting President’s daughter.”
Media Openly Cheering For Trump’s Kids to Be Arrested
This is what today’s media has devolved into – openly cheering the arrest of President Trump’s children.
Joy Behar, co-host of ABC’s “The View,” recently sneered that the President had better “save the pardons for his children, frankly … There’s a lot of kids in the family.”
“I frankly, I think it’s shameful the way that she’s been treated,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said of the media’s coverage of Ivanka.
“If she didn’t have the same last name, they would be celebrating her,” she added. “They would be praising her. They would be thanking God that she is sitting in a position that she is to influence policy and help women across this country.”
Imagine her name was, say … Chelsea Clinton. Do you think Behar would be telling Hillary to save the pardons for her, or Reid and others saying haul her off to prison as a means of getting to her mother?
Despite this clear double standard, Ivanka has said that she does not agree with her father that the media are the “enemy of the people.”
She’s wrong. They are.
Joy Should Be More Concerned Than Ivanka
Shouldn’t Joy be a little more concerned about being arrested than Ivanka?
In June she was forced to apologize for a series of offensive posts on her old blog that included homophobic attacks on her political enemies, promoting a 9/11 conspiracy and suggesting Jews be forced to relocate from Israel to Europe.
She ran into bigger trouble, however, when she originally suggested that the blog posts had appeared because her site was hacked, an almost certain fabrication.
Reid’s reporting of the ‘hack’ led the FBI to investigate, meaning they used time and resources to look into a false claim, something that prompted Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano to claim the MSNBC host “could be in very serious trouble.”
Should we be celebrating the possibility she ends up in prison?
