Meghan McCain Goes Off After Joy Behar Lauds Al Franken as a ‘Gentleman’: ‘That’s Crazy!’

GOLDBERG: “People saying that the tides are turning for some of the men in high-profile misconduct scandals. Chris Hardwick is keeping his TV gigs. Aziz Ansari can restart his show. And Al franen hasn’t ruled out running for us a again. Do you think there is enough time for people to check things out, find out what is going on? Is that why the tide might be shifting?”

HAINES: “I think this speaks to there is no one size fits all in this. Every woman needed to be heard. Each case is going to be handled separately. Some of these, they have said, Aziz, Meghan, you talked about this. It doesn’t fit the mold of what the movement was in regard to professional backlash. Harassment in the workplace. These were maybe dates. Things that had other labels. I see now, as we see this pushback that people will return when it’s right for us to receive them back.”

BEHAR: “Right after, um — Al Franken attacked — well, sort of attacked him verbally, Jeff Sessions. He suddenly became the target of the right wing to get him out of office. And then, Gillibrand. She was out to get him also. And the Democrats decided, oh, we’re going to take the high road. And they basically lost really good senator, in my opinion. And, you know, the way I saw that photograph where he was putting his hands, pretending to touch them. He didn’t really touch them. That was a sophomoric joke by a comedian. In a time when he didn’t know he was going to become a senator. He was fooling around. He was a comic. To his credit, he said, she didn’t have any ability to consent. She had every right to feel violated by that photo. So he’s a gentleman. And he took the hit.”

GOLDBERG: “Right.”

BEHAR: “And now, can we please move on and get the great senator back and get rid of the president.”

MCCAIN: “Can I just say, the woman in that photo is my friend.”

MCCAIN: “So I don’t want to — he’s accused of forcibly kissing her, as well. She came on the show. She’s an old, old friend of mine. I believe women should be believed. It wasn’t a — you just said it was a right-wing attack or whatever — in politicians. That’s crazy. On so many levels. It was democratic senators that did this to him.”

BEHAR: “I know. They did not back him up.”

MCCAIN: “Elizabeth Warren. Heidi Heitkamp. Tammi Baldwin. Maria Cantwell.”

BEHAR: “Right on the floor of the Roy Moore thing.”

MCCAIN: “Bring it up with them. Not Leeann tweeden.”

HOLDBERG: “Is there more to say.”

HAINES: “I have to make the clarification. When I said I don’t think all women should be believed. It’s not that I think they shouldn’t all be believed. In a big movement, you have people that can make a false —“

MCCAIN: “If a photo of the president putting his hands on a woman’s breast.”

BEHAR: “His hands were not on her breasts.”

HOSTIN: “You want to read this please?”

BEHAR: “It was a joke.”
