This May Be the Best Response to a Debate Question You’ll Ever See

Joni Ernst (R) and Bruce ‘Don’t call me Bailey‘ Braley (D) went toe-to-toe in their final debate before the Iowa senate election.

During one portion of the debate dealing with the ISIS terrorism threat, Braley took to badgering Ernst about her stance on sending ground troops in to deal with the threat.

Braley challenged her with a question: “Are you saying tonight that you are prepared to commit U.S. forces on the ground in Iraq, to deal with this threat, and in Syria, is that what you are suggesting President Obama should have done?”

That’s when Ernst responded with one of the greatest lines you may hear in a debate this election season.

Watch …

Ernst: I am stating that I would have to use the criteria that I have laid out before committing America’s sons and daughters. And I will remind you that I have served in Iraq. My boots were on that ground that is now held by ISIS.  So when we make these decisions I take them very seriously.

Oh snap.

Via the Free Beacon:

Ernst blasted the Obama administration for its failure to address the threat from the Islamic State when militants first gained traction in Syria.

Ernst is a lieutenant colonel in the Iowa National Guard. She served as a company commander in Iraq in 2003.

Ernst went on to explain that she would carefully consider all parameters before voting to send troops into harms way.

Ernst currently leads Braley by two points in the Real Clear Politics average.

What do you think? Was Joni Ernst’s response to the challenge question from Braley a good one?
