It’s not like she was a professional model or anything.
Conservative actor James Woods started off a debate last week on the seemingly unfair treatment of First Lady Melania Trump by U.S.-based magazines.
Where once they fawned – time and time again – over her predecessor, Michelle Obama, they now turn a blind eye to Mrs. Trump.
Why would any sane individual want to avert their eyes from someone as stunning and beautiful as the First Lady, we ask?
Woods took yet another example of her elegance and beauty, posting a picture of Melania and declaring, “If the Trumps were Democrats, Melania would be on every cover of every chic women’s magazine in the world every month.”

The New York Post set about analyzing Woods’ assertion, and to nobody’s surprise, he’s absolutely correct.
Mrs. Trump lags well behind Mrs. Obama when it comes to U.S. magazine covers. She’s on pace to fall well short of the number of covers Michelle appeared on during her eight years in the White House.
In fact, Obama appeared on 30 American magazine covers between 2009 and 2017. Thus far, Trump has appeared on zero. Zilch. Nada.
In fact, worldwide Melania has only graced one magazine cover – Vanity Fair Mexico in February of 2017.

“During Barack Obama’s eight-year presidency, Michelle appeared on at least 30 US magazine covers, three of which were Vogue,” the Post reported.
“She also appeared twice on the covers of Essence magazine, Time magazine, More magazine and Glamour magazine. Other covers included Redbook, InStyle and Radar.”
Time magazine has over a dozen of those covers seen here.
Woods tweeted out proof of his original assertion …

Melania Trump is a former model, constantly makes surprise visits to local children’s hospitals and charities, and does so with a style and grace most agree is a breath of fresh air.
Vogue has described Trump’s style as similar to that of Jackie Kennedy and Nancy Reagan.
But these magazine publishers can’t find a place for her to appear on their covers?
It couldn’t hurt their sales. They were certainly willing to take a chance on Mrs. Obama, despite her appearances failing to translate into dollar signs.
“No doubt she’s been embraced by the media world, appearing on cover after cover, from Us Weekly to Newsweek,” AdAge wrote in 2009. “But when it comes to sales, Ms. Obama may not yet be general-interest magazines’ new Princess Diana, who regularly helped the industry sell more copies at newsstands.”
We’re willing to bet a cover featuring Melania Trump would generate significant sales.
