Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been reading daily devotionals since losing to President Donald Trump in November, according to a Monday exclusive report from the Daily Mail.
Rev. Bill Shillady, who officiated Chelsea Clinton’s wedding ceremony in 2010, told the Daily Mail that Clinton “reads her scripture and prays each and every day,” and that was helping her to get through the crushing loss to Trump.
He has been giving Clinton daily devotionals about “encouragement,” and “being strong in the midst of unpredictability.”
Shillady began sending Clinton devotions each day, starting Easter of 2015, after she informed him that she was running for President. “My team of writers and I used passages of Scripture, a reflection on that passage, and a prayer to support her depending on the events that were taking place,” Shillady explained to the Daily Mail. “I would write the devotional after reading the headlines of the day.”
Following the election, Shillady continued sending Clinton the daily devotions in an effort to keep up her spirits. Clinton went off the grid for a couple of months, only to reappear sporadically deep inside the forests of upstate New York.
Clinton reportedly encouraged Shillady to publish all the devotionals because they “gave her strength in the midst of the loss.”
Of the 600 devotionals, 365 will be released in October 2017 in a book entitled “Strong For A Moment Like This: The Daily Devotionals of Hillary Rodham Clinton.” The book will be organized into 12 themes, including forgiveness, courage, doing good and women.
Clinton has resurfaced on the political scene in a series of public appearances, one being the 2017 commencement address at Wellesley College, her alma-mater in Massachusetts.
