An editor at the far-left site ThinkProgress commented on a story about a woman with a concealed carry license shooting an armed intruder … and defended the gunman.

Zack Ford took to social media in an attempt to blast conservatives for celebrating the fact that the woman shot and killed the armed 19-year-old. The reality is they were celebrating the woman’s right to defend herself and her property, not celebrating the death of the criminal.

Yet Ford couldn’t resist trying to make an anti-gun, anti-personal defense screed by trying to shame the woman and her supporters.

As a result, he was roundly mocked for what was hands down the worst possible take on the subject.

What Happened

Trending: Democrats Looking to Unseat Rep. Ilhan Omar

A 25-year-old woman was waiting for a bus on a Chicago street corner when an armed man approached and attempted to rob her at gunpoint. A struggle between the two ensues.

Fearing for her safety, the woman exercised her right with a concealed carry license to defend herself. She pulled out a gun and shot him in the neck.

The young man fled the scene while the woman ran in the opposite direction. Police later located him and he was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The overwhelming consensus is that the woman did the right thing in defending herself.

“It’s tragic that he did die, but the lady had to do what she had to do,” one neighbor said.

“I’m glad that she had concealed carry and good aim, because there is so much going on in these streets,” another reported.

Not Zack Ford

Ford, a self-described ‘LGBTQ Editor’ for ThinkProgress, didn’t agree. He offered up this hot take in a since-deleted tweet:

“That’s not how justice works,” Ford wrote, seemingly unaware of how justice works. “The penalty for theft is not death, nor do we want it to be.

Ford left out a minor detail in his ridiculous analysis – the fact that the young man, who was bigger than his victim when viewing the surveillance video, also had his own weapon.

This was exactly how justice works, and Ford got wrecked for his ill-conceived tweet.

The Response

Ford’s response to the woman’s self-defense resulted in a ratio of epic proportions, eventually leading him to take down his tweet and offering up a multi-tweet explanation.

Perhaps most notably, NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch tore him to shreds and asserted the anti-gun zealots on the left need to “stop shaming women who defend themselves.”

Liberal activists love to openly discourage women from owning firearms, even in the wake of the ‘Me Too’ movement. Worse, they demean powerful women who choose to own a gun for self-defense.

A firearm for self-defense in the hands of a woman is the great equalizer in the face of an attacker or criminal who might be physically more intimidating than their victim.
