A Mexican national who fired point-blank at a Deputy in California during a routine traffic stop was in the country illegally after being deported multiple times.
Javier Hernandez-Morales, 43-years-old, was deported three times prior to 2011 and arrested numerous times after that.
A viral video shows the traffic stop in which Deputy Riley Jarecki asked him to roll down his window. Hernandez-Morales says, “What’s up?” in Spanish before he complies, whips out a .22-caliber revolver, and tries to shoot her in the face.
Jarecki escaped, ran to the passenger side, and unloaded 15 shots into the career criminal, killing him.
“Hernandez Morales fired from close proximity, essentially without warning, and it’s pretty obvious to us he intended to kill her,” Undersheriff Jon Crawford reported.

He Was Free Because of Sanctuary Laws
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) indicated that Hernandez-Morales was in the country illegally, and, it would appear, he sought sanctuary in that area because local law enforcement officials had protected him in the past.
This is the kind of man – a criminal willing to murder a sheriff’s deputy – that sanctuary cities or states protect.
ICE reports that his rap sheet includes arrests for driving under the influence, battery on a peace officer, and probation violations.
Immigration officials said he had four separate detainers issued, all of which had been ignored by local officials.
ICE Unloads on Sanctuary Cities
“ICE is grateful the deputy involved in this shooting was not harmed during this attack,” a statement issued by the agency reads. “It’s unfortunate that our law enforcement partners and the community are subjected to dangerous consequences because of inflexible state laws that protect criminal aliens.”
They asserted that had any local officials notified ICE of his release multiple times over the years, this near-tragedy could have been averted.
“This is an impactful, scary example of how public safety is affected by laws or policies limiting local law enforcement agencies’ ability to cooperate with ICE,” they added.

“We are proud of the deputy’s composure and her fight to save her life,” Crawford said of the incident.
Jarecki should be extremely proud. Liberal lawmakers in California should hang their heads in shame. The rest of America should view them with disdain for siding with criminals.
