Republican candidate and former Governor of Utah, Jon Huntsman, will be ending his bid for the presidency.
Huntsman has announced that he will be endorsing Mitt Romney. While it’s always nice to pick up endorsements, adding Huntsman to his band of cheerleaders will do nothing for Romney’s stature in the conservative community. It was just a week ago that a poll had indicated that 51% of Huntsman supporters thought that Obama was doing a satisfactory job.
From the Daily Caller:
Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman has informed advisers that he will end his presidential campaign Monday and endorse former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, The New York Times reported.
ABC News reports that Huntsman will make his endorsement of Romney official in Myrtle Beach during an 11:00 a.m. press conference Monday.
Doug Powers explains why he had to drop out, and offers a little advice for Romney:
Things were looking beyond grim for Huntsman in South Carolina and Florida while Newt’s been closing the gap somewhat on Romney. So, if you’re Romney, why not promise Huntsman a China ambassadorship (yet again) or maybe a post as Harley Czar in order to get his five percent and stretch the margin a little?
