The Political Insider recently covered a video that showed Obama administration officials, and the former President himself, telling the American people over and over again how they rid Syria and the Bashar al-Assad regime of chemical weapons.
Obama’s Secretary of State, John Kerry, even went so far as to declare in a television interview that “we got 100 percent of the chemical weapons out” of Syria.
Evidence has been mounting, however, which shows that not only were these claims false, but that the President and his administration knew they were false, and lied to the American people anyway.
We know, shocker right?
It begins with comments last week by National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster who acknowledged that during the airstrikes “there were … measures put in place to avoid hitting what we believe is a storage of sarin gas.”
Where did the knowledge of sarin gas storage sites come from? The American Interest had the same question and discovered Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, had acknowledged the existence during congressional testimony in February.
If this strike was arranged to avoid hitting sarin storage facilities, the question arises: did the Obama Administration know that such depots still existed after its “historic” deal that supposedly removed all Syria’s chemical weapons?
The signs point to yes. In Congressional testimony last February, Obama’s Director of National Intelligence James Clapper acknowledged “gaps and inconsistencies in Syria’s declaration,” validating reports that Syria was still hiding banned chemicals at undisclosed locations.
“We continue to judge that the Syrian regime has used chemicals as a means of warfare since accession to the CWC (Chemical Weapons Convention) in 2013,” Clapper said.
Furthermore, Obama’s Treasury Department quietly introduced sanctions against Syrian officials involved in chemical warfare, stating one particular official “has continued operating at locations in Syria associated with chemical warfare-related missions.”
This revelation demonstrates the willingness of the Obama administration to use a weak chemical weapons agreement with Syria, that did not accomplish anything it set out to do, as cover for the former President’s weak response to Syria crossing the fabled ‘red line.’
“This shows the moral depravity of the last administration,” a former Obama administration official told Defense One. “I am stunned.”
Another former Obama official praised Trump’s response to the chemical attacks as the proper one.
“Many of us are pretty darned happy about this,” they said. “This is the action that many of us were hoping for years ago.”
When the media attacks President Trump for lying about mundane things such as inauguration crowd size, or things that ultimately prove true, like Obama spying on him, remind them to add one more great lie told by their muse, President Obama.
This particular one can go right up there alongside the Benghazi/YouTube video lie that actually cost people their lives.
