Ed Klein: Obama Setting up a ‘Shadow Gov’t’ to Undermine Trump Starting on Inauguration Day

HEGSETH: “President Obama is promising a smooth transition of power come January.”

OBAMA: “Respect to the transition, I think they would be the first to acknowledge that we have done everything we can to make sure that they are successful as I promised and that will continue.”

HEGSETH: “But our next guest doesn’t buy it. He feels like there’s a public and private position. In fact he says President Obama has plans to take aim at Trump as soon as the president-elect takes the oath of office. Here’s author of “Guilty as sin” Ed Klein. You say the Obamas don’t plan to fade away and let the new president succeed. What are you hearing about their plans?”

KLEIN: “For the past 100 years every president who is outgoing has packed up his stuff, gone home and not criticized his successor. This is not what the Obamas are planning to do. They rented an eight-bedroom mansion in the section of Washington from Joe lock hart, Bill Clinton’s last press secretary. In that house there’s enough room for Valerie Jarrett and Michelle and the kids. A place for ten cars to park. They are setting up what they are calling a shadow government.”

HEGSETH: “So they are saying though it’s just their children are in D.C. Want to stay there.”

KLEIN: “That’s not the real reason they are staying there. They are staying there because despite what the president said on his press conference, he’s in a sense of outrage over this incoming Trump Administration, when he thinks is going to wipe out his legacy. So he’s setting up this kind of almost insurgency, picking people in foreign affairs, labor, abortion, union matters and setting them up to start appearing on television, making speeches and doing op-ed pieces for next four years, you’re going to see not only a trump Administration but you’re going to see a shadow government opposing the trump —“

HEGSETH: “You’re hearing from your sources that a shadow government will be formed to oppose everything Donald Trump is trying to do right there in Washington, D.C.?”

KLEIN: “It’s going to start inauguration day because Michael Moore has already organized mass demonstrations in Washington to try to get Donald Trump to have to go inside rather than outside to hold his inauguration. And we’re going to see street demonstrations for the next four years.”

HEGSETH: “Other than the inauguration, what else would this shadow government and insurgency do?”

KLEIN: “ Tom Stier, the environmentalist, big liberal, has already pledged $100 million to do commercials to oppose Donald Trump’s environmental policies, things like that.”

HEGSETH: “Rallies, protest, commercial organizations.”

KLEIN: “I would call it an insurgency. You think Donald Trump is disruptive, this is going to be very disruptive.”

HEGSETH: “You know the Clintons as well as anybody and left and Obama. That would seem to be pretty unfortunate if he didn’t allow Donald trump to succeed. We’ll track that closely. Appreciate it, Ed.”
