Dan Crenshaw Hits Biden Back: ‘Walls Quite Literally Stop a Virus’

Republican Dan Crenshaw responded to Joe Biden’s criticism of President Trump’s actions during the coronavirus outbreak by explaining “walls quite literally stop a virus.” dan crenshaw wall

Biden, the leading Democrat presidential candidate, offered remarks Thursday outlining what he felt needed to be done to blunt the effects of the pandemic.

Following that effort, Biden took to social media and posted: “A wall will not stop the coronavirus.”

“Banning all travel from Europe – or any other part of the world – will not stop it,” he continued.

Yes, Yes It Will

Rep. Crenshaw replied to Biden by pointing out the obvious. These measures do work.

“First, walls quite literally stop a virus,” Crenshaw explained to the former vice president. “It’s kind of the whole point of a quarantine, for instance.”

Illustrating his point is this. In New Rochelle, New York, where a cluster of coronavirus cases have been identified, Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a “containment area” to limit the spread of infections.

Expanding that out to create a containment area for the United States means a wall would indeed work.

Travel Bans Also Work

Crenshaw also took aim at Biden’s other failed point – that travel bans are ineffective.

“Assuming you meant this metaphorically, health experts like Dr. Fauci and everyone else agree travel restrictions have vastly slowed the spread of the virus in the US,” Crenshaw explained.

We touched on this a bit yesterday as House Democrats fought for legislation that would limit the President’s ability to implement travel bans.

Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said he believes “we would be in a worse position” if President Trump didn’t have the forethought to implement a travel ban on those coming from China.

Fauci went on to say that we should perhaps do more in that arena.

“How much worse [things] get will depend on our ability to do two things,” he explained. “To contain the influx of people who are infected coming from the outside and the ability to contain and mitigate within our own country.”

Keep the infected out. Contain others to combat the spread.

Travel bans and walls. They work.
