After throwing away a good portion of his presidential aspirations for 2020 by recently admitting he’s never viewed America as great, Andrew Cuomo pivoted back to his gubernatorial race in New York by partaking in a debate with his opponent, Cynthia Nixon.

Nixon is so far left that you’d be better off moving to the right on a map to find her, and she’s dragging the governor there with her.

The actress is running so far behind Cuomo in polling right now that it’s hard to imagine why he feels the need to move to the left at all, but alas, he has made a hardcore pivot.

The pair engaged in a spirited debate last night and as you might expect, when you get a pair of far-left notorious liars in the room with each other, sparks fly.

In fact, the sparks were flying so fast and furious that Governor Cuomo at one point admitted that he’s a lying liar who lies.

During one epic exchange, Cuomo asked Nixon to stop interrupting him, to which she replied: “Can you stop lying?”

He countered by saying, and I quote, “Yeah, as soon as you do.”

To the average person charged with lying, the immediate response would be to say ‘I’m not lying.’

But Cuomo couldn’t go there because he’s … well, Cuomo. Instead, he had to opt for the old playground taunt effectively amounting to ‘I know you are but what am I?’

What an incredibly dumb gaffe on the governor’s part.

That was just one self-own on Cuomo’s part.

He also truly stepped in it when he called the law enforcement officers of ICE “a bunch of thugs.”

It’s one thing to oppose the President’s immigration policies, it’s another when you are completely unable to distinguish yourself from radicals like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who recently suggested ICE is an organization that “incarcerates children and sexually assaults women with impunity.”

How are Cuomo’s comments any different?

“New York State is the state that is suing Donald Trump for ripping babies from the arms of their mothers,” Cuomo bragged. “New York State is the state that says we will not cooperate with ICE, they’re a bunch of thugs.”

Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan took Cuomo to task for the comments, reminding him of the important work ICE does in trying to rid the Empire State of actual thugs, MS-13 gang members.

“We arrested over 5,000 criminal aliens off the street in New York [and] many walked out of his sanctuary jails,” Honan said. “He ought to be writing a thank you letter rather than calling them names. It’s ridiculous.”

In an exclusive interview with The Political Insider, RNC spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany warned Democrats that seeking to abolish ICE amounts to a losing message.

Author Michelle Malkin concurs, calling ICE agents “patriots” and suggesting “the fringe has become the mainstream of the Democratic Party.”

She’s right, Cuomo’s consistent fringe rhetoric has been going on for some time now. Last month he accused President Trump of conducting a “jihad” against illegal immigrants.

And just two weeks ago he admitted that he never viewed America as all that great.

Cuomo certainly turned any 2020 hopes for the White House into a dumpster fire with his comments, and he seems to have come to terms with it.

“I’m running for Governor, not President,” Cuomo said during the debate, “only caveat is if God strikes me dead.”
