Condoleezza Rice Blasts Liberals For Assuming They Know What Black People ‘Ought to Think’

Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, accused liberals of telling the black community how they are supposed to think. condoleezza rice black people

Rice made the comments during an interview with the New York Times’ Peter Baker for the Aspen Security Forum.

She said the nation may never truly be colorblind but hoped for a day when race would not be a determining factor in how people view each other.

“I don’t really care if we’re colorblind, but I would like to get to the place that when you see somebody who is Black, you don’t have preconceived notions of what they’re capable of, who they are – by the way, what they think, which is I think a problem of the left,” Rice said.

“You look at somebody who’s Black and you think you know what they think, or you at least think you know what they ought to think,” she continued.

‘You Ain’t Black’

Civil rights attorney Leo Terrell, in analyzing Rice’s statements, seemed to concur with the sentiment that Democrats don’t want blacks to think for themselves.

And that, he added, is going to be a huge mistake this election.

“They (the Democratic Party) do not own me,” Terrell explained. “Over a million blacks voted for Trump in 2016. There are going to be twice as many in 2020.”

Rice and Terrell make their comments not long after Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden told voters they aren’t really black if they vote for Trump.

“Well, I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black,” Biden told radio host Charlamagne Tha God.

Like those mentioned above, Black Entertainment Television (BET) Founder Robert Johnson claimed Biden’s comments show Democrats think they own the black vote.

“To have that mindset, you must have the attitude that we, black Americans, we own you,” he insisted in an interview with Fox News. “We can take you for granted … That, to me, shows you that black Americans are an appendage of a party.”

“There are a couple of things about VP Biden that give me… pause about his true beliefs in African Americans having an equal seat at the table in the Democrat party.”

Race Relations Aren’t Worse Today condoleezza rice black people

This isn’t the first time Condoleezza Rice has been unwilling to toe the line on a leftist narrative that President Trump and the right are bad for black Americans.

In an interview with NBC reporter Sheinelle Jones in 2019, Rice refused to further the claim that race relations in America are far worse because of the President.

“There are people who will say it feels worse now when we’re talking about race,” Jones said.

“It sure doesn’t feel worse than when I grew up in Jim Crow Alabama,” Rice fired back. “So let’s drop this notion that we’re worse race relations today than we were in the past.”

“Oh, come on, alright. I would be the first to say we need to watch our language about race,” Rice added.

“We need to watch that we don’t use dog whistles to people … but when we start saying, ‘Oh, you know, it’s worse today,’ no, they’re not,” she dismissed.

Polls have shown that race relations grew exponentially worse under Barack Obama. A Democrat. A member of a party that thinks ‘you ain’t black’ unless you vote for them.
