Bernie Reportedly Told Elizabeth Warren a Woman Couldn’t Win in 2020

Senator Bernie Sanders, in a private meeting conducted in December of 2018, allegedly told Elizabeth Warren that a woman couldn’t win the presidency. bernie sanders sexist

This, according to four separate sources from a CNN report of the meeting, two of whom had spoken to Warren directly about the events of that evening.

According to the report, the two eventual rivals to President Trump discussed how best to handle their campaigns knowing their supporters could be split between the socialist candidates.

Warren explained to Sanders that her appeal would come from female voters, for obvious reasons, and those disappointed with the Trump economy.

Bernie, CNN contends, “responded that he did not believe a woman could win.”

Maybe Democrats don’t need to look very far next time they accuse people of misogyny holding women back.

They also discussed how to take on Trump. Warren offered two main reasons she believed she’d be strong candidate: 1. Economy 2. Women.

Sanders responded he did not believe a woman could win, per 2 people Warren directly spoke to and 2 others familiar. https://t.co/06ue2cqUP8

Are Warren’s People Lying?

It’d be remarkable if Sanders actually said this, considering a woman won the nomination in 2016 and we’re not exactly living in the 1930s anymore.

The socialist curmudgeon vehemently denied the ‘characterization’ of what was said at the meeting, countering the four Warren sources.

“It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn’t win,” Sanders told CNN.

“It’s sad that, three weeks before the Iowa caucus and a year after that private conversation, staff who weren’t in the room are lying about what happened.”

To that argument, Warren’s camp declined to comment. Has her staff followed her career-long lead and simply made up a story to help further Warren’s career?

That private meeting in December 2018 was first reported at the time by @jmartNYT — his story then said that neither senator sought each other’s support, and that they did not try to dissuade one another from running in the 2020 election. https://t.co/yHBLKtqFSq

Who’s Less Likely to Win – A Woman or An ‘Old White Guy’? bernie sanders sexist

Sanders’ comments seem odd with a backdrop of others criticizing him for being just another ‘old white guy’ being foisted up by the Democrat party.

CBS News correspondent Nikole Killion criticized ‘Squad’ members for backing Bernie.

“As a woman of color, why back an old white guy?” she asked. “And is this the future of the party?”

ICYMI @NikolenDC asked @aoc the money question after she endorsed @BernieSanders:

We get why Sanders would play the demographics card against President Trump, but why would he say this about Warren and, in the meantime, alienate half of Democrat voters?

What do you think?
