Astorino: Trump’s Flirtation With Running For Governor “Circus Stuff”

Potential Cuomo challenger Rob Astorino is calling on Donald Trump to either put up or shut up regarding a run at the Governor’s seat.  Astorino told Trump he should either run or stop the ‘circus.’

Via Capital New York:

In the second round of a mini-media blitz, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino encouraged fellow Republican Donald Trump to either run for governor, or put an end to the “circus” he’s created by publicly flirting with a run.

“Everyone we’ve talked to in New York City or around the state doesn’t take him seriously, quite frankly, and their support of me would be whether he’s running or not,” Astorino told the Albany press corps, referencing potential donors. “This circus stuff has got to come to an end and he’s gotta just say if he’s running or not. And once I say I’m running or not, it will be going forward or not.”

It’s Astorino’s most pointed jab at Trump to date, as both men consider mounting a challenge to Governor Andrew Cuomo.

While Trump would provide Republicans with name recognition in a candidate that they wouldn’t otherwise have, he would also further damage any brand-building for other candidates if he were to use the media circus to simply further his own publicity.

Candidates such as Rob Astorino will continue to have difficulty getting their message out if the media were solely obsessed with Trump’s antics.  He needs to end this game now.
