Tlaib becomes the third member of the ‘Squad’ – a group of radical extremists on the left who control House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – to run into ethical if not legal problems.
Rep. Ilhan Omar allegedly used campaign funds to pay over $20,000 in “travel expenses” to the company owned by a man she was having an affair with, something government ethics watchdogs have said is “probably” a violation.
In June, Omar was ordered to personally reimburse her campaign for just under $3,500 and pay a $500 civil penalty for using campaign funds to pay for a trip to Florida.
The left-leaning Minneapolis Star-Tribune also famously reported on documents raising questions as to whether Omar married her brother as a means to “skirt immigration laws.”
Squad leader, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez courted trouble when her former chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti became a target in an ongoing federal investigation alleging he funneled money into a pair of privately-owned companies.
A Federal Election Commission filing states that her campaign PACs “funneled more than $1 million in political donations into two private companies that Chakrabarti also incorporated and controlled” as a means to skirt reporting requirements.
Sources claimed that Ocasio-Cortez’s minimum salary policy for staffers may have actually been a ploy to help Chakrabarti “dodge public financial-disclosure rules.”
Looks like Tlaib is simply trying to keep pace with the rest of the ethically-challenged Squad.
