9/11 Families to Sue Saudi Arabia for Terror Attacks

The families of the victims of 9/11 will finally get their day in court.

800 families have signed on to a lawsuit that alleges Saudi Arabia was complicit in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. After over a decade, classified portions of the official 9/11 Commission Report were revealed that suggest Saudi officials were complicit in the attacks.

Documents allege that Saudi officials supported two of those hijackers, Salem al-Hazmi and Khalid Al-Mihdhar, for over a year prior to 9/11, as well as having provided support to lead hijacker Mohammed Atta.

In a stunning lawsuit seeking to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for 9/11, the families of 800 victims have filed a lawsuit accusing the Saudis of complicity in the worst terror attacks on American soil.

The legal action, filed in federal court in Manhattan, details a scenario of involvement by Saudi officials who are said to have aided some of the hijackers before the attacks.

Fifteen of the 19 hijackers were Saudi nationals and three of them had previously worked for the kingdom.

The document details how officials from Saudi embassies supported hijackers Salem al-Hazmi and Khalid Al-Mihdhar 18 months before 9/11.

The Obama administration fought tooth and nail to prevent the 9/11 families from being able to sue Saudi Arabia for the terrorist attacks, vetoing the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act in September.

Congress overrode that veto and the bill became law, freeing the families to pursue their lawsuit.

Obama sought to squash the legislation, caving to Saudi Arabian threats that they would sell off billions in American assets should the bill become law.

Obama’s opposition to the bill led retired Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters to ask “Where are the politicians with integrity, who will stand up for Americans and say, ‘Hey Saudi [Arabia], game over’?”

He also charged that the White House was putting “the happiness of the Saudi royal family above the survivors of 9/11.”

The lawsuit does not specify the damages being sought by the 800 families.

“The Saudis were so duplicitous,” aviation attorney Jim Kreindler said. “They claim to be allies fighting with U.S. against Iran, while at the same time working with the terrorists. There’s no question they had a hand in the 9/11 attacks.”
