Presidential candidate Marco Rubio has a plan for Guantanamo Bay that spells bad news – Bad news for President Obama and terrorists, not for people who value American lives.

If you happened to be away from the media world yesterday and missed it, Obama sent a closure request to Congress for the prison at Gitmo. Not only does his plan call for closing the prison, but he wants those terrorists currently incarcerated to be transferred to American soil, a violation of federal law.

Rubio responded by saying not only would he keep the prison open if he is elected, but that he’d start putting more terrorists in lock up.

“You wake up this morning to the news that the president is planning to close Guantanamo — maybe even giving it back to the Cuban government,” Rubio said to boos from the Las Vegas crowd. “This makes no sense to me. No. 1, we’re not giving back an important naval base to an anti-American communist dictatorship.”

“No. 2, we’re not going to close Guantanamo. In fact, we shouldn’t be releasing the people that are there now. They are enemy combatants,” Rubio said. “These are literally enemy combatants. In essence, soldiers — though not soldiers — terrorists of foreign terrorist organizations, many of whom as soon as you release them, they rejoin the fight against us.”

“Not only are we not going to close Guantanamo,” Rubio said. “When I’m president, if we capture a terrorist alive, they’re not getting a court hearing in Manhattan, they’re not going to be sent to Nevada. They’re going to Guantanamo, and we’re going to find out everything they know.”

Only an absolute lunatic could possibly view transferring terrorists to American soil, especially in the wake of the attack in San Bernardino, as a good idea.

President Obama, how about coming up with a plan – one single, solitary plan – that involves something good for the American people, and not those who want to kill us?
