Upstate Democrat to Gun Supporters: You’re All a Bunch of “Gun-Toting Tea Party Psychotards”
February 27, 2013  //  By:   //  Andrew Cuomo, Gun Control, New York  //  84 Comments   //   3442 Views

CaptureHudson city Alderman, Dave Marston, has found himself in a bit of hot water after an e-mail exchange that saw him refer to Second Amendment supporters as “gun-toting Tea Party psychotards”, implying that all gun supporters are “unemployed”, threatened to “beat you barbarians back”, and tosses in a Nazi reference for good measure.

Apparently Mr. Marston didn’t get his party’s memo concerning the “new tone” in politics.

The controversy began over a meeting scheduled this evening in the city of Hudson in which Marston serves.  The Hudson Common Council is set to discuss a possible all-out gun ban on city owned property, even for citizens with valid pistol permits.  A similar ban in Washington, D.C., effective in 1976, was struck down in 2008 by the Supreme Court, with the majority opinion citing that the Constitution provides an individual right to bear arms.

If the Hudson proposal is passed, Republican Mayor William Hallenbeck, Jr. would likely veto the measure.  But the problems would not stop there, as that veto could subsequently be overridden by a two-thirds majority vote – the Council is comprised of 10 Democrats and one unregistered member.

In a direct reply to this evening’s meeting, Johanna Johnson-Smith (JJ), a main organizer for the first NY SAFE Act protest rally in Albany last month, e-mailed the Alderman advising him of her intended presence at the meeting.  The e-mail refers to the overwhelming opposition that law enforcement officers have toward the SAFE Act, and how that Act seeks to disarm law-abiding citizens.  JJ’s most heated comments involve “Democrats and Liberals who have never given a donkey’s behind about the Constitutional Rights of the people who employ them”.

In response, the good Alderman goes on a tirade directed not only at JJ, but the entire movement of Second Amendment supporters.

Here is Marston’s response (emphasis is mine):

Dear Joanna Johnson-Smith,

Its really neat that all you gun toting tea party psychotards are so interested in the goings on of our little City, even though I find it amazing that you don’t have any other pressing issues before you in New Lebanon. On the other hand, I guess its not surprising, considering you ideologues aren’t interested in actual policy, but rather grandstanding on mythical narratives of victimization.

Two things: The only spit here is the white stuff frothing on the ends of that rotten little mouth of yours from which you spew this hateful ignorant trash. And a donkeys behind? The rabid ignorance of the fringe is best illustrated by its sad metaphors, I mean seriously, thank you for the laughs.

By all means, come on down, we’ll be happy to beat you barbarians back with the clubs of reason & responsibility, radical lunatics that you are. And say, a quick ProTip, since you’re the “organizer” for unemployed guns nuts USA. Next time you think these unhinged rants will change the mind of anyone who has even a modicum of intelligence, you might instead just go back down into your basement & watch another episode of wheel-of-fortune. It’ll certainly be just as effective. Remember: there are millions of Eagle Scout God Worshiping Patriots who find you & your radical ilk as disgraceful to American Democracy as the Brown Shirt jackboots you act like. I happen to be just one of them. Good Luck.

Best Regards,
David Marston

The Brown Shirts were an arm of Germany’s Nazi party meant to maintain law and order, and played a key role in Hitler’s rise to power.

The entire e-mail exchange can be found on Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin’s Facebook page.

It would appear that when Mr. Marston refers to having “a modicum of intelligence”, he is being accurate and literal in his measurement.  How a public official is unaware that an e-mail involving such venomous language could be shared across the internet is beyond comprehension.

On a side note, Marston was the candidate of choice for the SEIU this past election - the same SEIU that recently tried to organize a pro-gun control rally in Albany by teaming up with Obama’s campaign arm, and paying protesters to attend.

Make no mistake, this is an all-out assault on law-abiding citizens in New York, and Marston’s comments represent what a good percentage of politicians feel about gun owners.  Democrats and some Republicans in New York are trying to disarm you.  They are trying to marginalize you as being on the fringe.  And they are trampling all over the Constitution.

Marston, while only being a local Alderman, is a primetime example of the disgrace that has become the political scene in New York.

The Empire State is becoming a dictatorship.

The question is why would you write it? It’s obviously how he feels, so making a mistake by sending it in inconsequential – just makes him a stupid politician, but that’s pretty normal with Democrats. Agree with your thoughts on the resignation – but have my doubts.

then it is time for the people who know better to leave NY, and let them swim in their own soup. As the only outcome for these people when all of the producers leave is starvation. Let them have their starvation, do not send care packages – do not give them anything they are insane and since we cannot shoot them, we can let them starve. If they come to their senses, welcome them back to the human race, as of now they are not human.

They were the majority (or ALL in many cases) of the participants of so many Obama campaign rallies; all paid to be there and bused in from out of town. Some were interviewed by conservative websites at these so-called rallies. The sheer level of their ignorance was mind boggling! Some admitted that they were only there because they were geting paid. It seems the 47% has itself a union.

Marston is completely unfit and unable to hold down a real job, where one has to actually produce something useful, or provide a needed service. Being a 5-year old liberal alderman is the most he’s capable of. It requires no thought nor effort. He has no value to the common good. Curious how Hudson could elect a Republican mayor, but not a single Republican councilman?

I just sent Marston an email. Let’s see what he says…if anything. See below.
    *********************************************************************************************************
I read with interest your memo to Joanna Johnson-Smith. It tells me a great deal about you and your inability to appreciate several facts that are iron-clad within the Constitution.

By the way, I’m wondering if you actually understand that America is a Constitutional Republic? Yes, we use a democratic process, but America is NOT a Democracy. Funny how many on the Left have no clue about that. Even if they do understand that, they fail to grasp the full meaning behind a Constitutional Republic.

You and all the other Leftists who wrongly believe that the Constitution is up for
debate and the 2nd Amendment can be vilified, restricted, or removed is absurd. Sure, let’s repeal it. While we’re at it, let’s start working on the 1st Amendment too. Oh wait, there are some Dems in Congress who have already voiced their opinion that the 1st Amendment should be limited. We can also start cracking down on the 4th Amendment. Oh wait, that’s already happened thanks to George W. Bush.

Gosh, if we limited free speech, I wonder what would become of your ability to
send out in emails with the kind of tripe you obviously believe is meritorious? Oh wait, you’re on the Left, so you would be able to say anything you want to say, wouldn’t you?

Only those of us who are conservatives – you know, us “gun-toting tea party psychotards,” and “radical lunatics,” and “brownshirt jackboots,” and “unemployed gun
nuts,” etc., would wind up being limited in our speech.

It is absolutely unbelievable and unconscionable to me that people like you actually exist and have been elected to positions in which you are to REPRESENT the people in your district, not merely the ones who voted for you. Beyond this, the way the Left decides that doing things that the Supreme Court has ruled illegal is amazing. It’s lawless yes, but that’s what the Left seems to thrive on doing.

I would hope that regardless of your beliefs – which are now public information – you
would henceforth carry yourself in a manner that is respectful toward all people, especially given your current status in life. I know it’s difficult when it comes to people you hate, but give it a try, will you?

Someone said that in a response to their query, you stated that you “accidentally” sent the email. Really? So what you wrote was TRUE, based on what you BELIEVE, but you simply made a mistake in actually SENDING it? Sure, okay.

If someone on the Right had sent an email like you did, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, and other Leftwing biased news bureaus would be all over it. The person would be forced to step down. When you’re on the Left though, it’s a different set of rules
    apparently.

Thanks for your time. I’m now off to “cling” to my Bible in one hand and my gun in the other.

Nice to see that the elected officials of NYS (my former home state) are treating their constituents with the utmost respect. I find the alderman’s choice of words troubling, but not unexpected, Psychotards? Not really a word befitting a representative of the people. His other comment, “considering you ideologues aren’t interested in actual policy, but rather grandstanding on mythical narratives of victimization.” Mythical narratives? Since when is Constitutional right something not worth fighting for? More of a mythical narrative is the banning of any type of long arm (Evil assault weapon), as few of them are used in the committing of a crime. The thing that bothers me most (and the reason I’m no longer registered as a Democrat), is the the use of the Nazi imagery that the left now seems to use against anyone that disagrees with them. The people of Hudson deserve better.

Funny that he would reprimand someone for poor intelligence and yet misspell the first word in his email. On another note, I find this an appealingly hypocritical example “mouth foaming” and fanaticism. The trouble with the latter is that one fails to perceive one’s own as one races to place accusations of it on others.

Hurling ad hominem attacks in attempt to justify a position is not an acceptable debate skill after age twelve. Either find some reason crawling around in that addled brain of yours or be quiet while thinking people make the decisions.

To Mr. Marston: That you hold public office is testament either to your own ability to manipulate the public or said public’s inability to see you for who and what you really are – an angry, arrogant, insensitive power monger.

You believe that you know best and that everyone should simply submit to your “reason.” You disguise a base agenda with grandstanding egotistical rhetoric. Ego does not equate to intelligence. That you know “big words” does not make you smart. It means you can locate and employ a dictionary or thesaurus. That you sent such an obviously misguided email “by accident” speaks to the lack of intelligence, not the presence of it.

There are many of your kind on both sides of politics. The problem is that people like you are actually in politics at all. Perhaps it’s the only place your nonsense is tolerated. How sad.

Um, no. The Brownshirts were the Nazi version of SEIU rent-a-thugs. Their job was to break things, hurt and kill people, and generally advance the Nazi power through unlawful means. They were “cleaned up ” in “The Night of the Long Knives”, because once the Nazis came to power, they didn’t want a bunch of thugs running around out of control.
