An employee at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, was fired for allegedly making “racist comments” in support of President Trump’s immigration policies.

In a letter sent by her lawyer to the Board of Regents, the employee, Kim Dearman, spoke to a co-worker in a casual setting, explaining her belief that “Trump was doing the correct thing by keeping terrorists out of the United States.”

She added, according to her lawyer, that she felt “those immigrants (the terrorists) should go back where they came from.”

Dearman was responding to an email sent out by UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow, who went off on an unnecessary and unprovoked anti-Trump tirade to the school staff and student body.

Gow wrote:

“Like so many of you, the UW leadership team and I are shocked and saddened by President Donald Trump’s order prohibiting refugees and people from certain predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States. Here at UWL we do not discriminate based on a person’s religion or country of origin, and it is very troubling to see the leader of our country doing exactly that.”

When Dearman defended the President in a casual conversation, she was terminated for “threatening or abusive language” and “conduct unbecoming a University employee.”

Really? Opposing terrorism is “threatening” language?

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Dearman said, “Apparently the word ‘immigrant’ is racist” and “immigrants going back to their country is a racist thought that should not be expressed in modern America.”

 

Gow and the university seem to have acknowledged the error in their ways however, offering Dearman her job back.

A University of Wisconsin-La Crosse employee fired for telling a co-worker that she supported President Donald Trump’s immigration policies could be back on the job soon, Wisconsin Watchdog has learned.

Kimberly Dearman, a law enforcement dispatcher for the western Wisconsin university, was fired this week on multiple charges, including “conduct unbecoming a university employee,” according to her attorney, Lee Fehr.

“Late [Wednesday] UWL admitted they wrongfully terminated her position,” Fehr said in an email to Wisconsin Watchdog Thursday morning.

UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow tells Wisconsin Watchdog that the university, on advice from University of Wisconsin System legal staff, has offered Dearman her job back.  But the chancellor asserts that the employee was originally let go for making “racist comments.”

Her lawyer says that Dearman is considering her options, rightfully concerned about accepting her job back knowing she could be fired for saying anything deemed offensive.
