|On to South Carolina|
Nothing surprising here – Mitt Romney is projected to win New Hampshire by double digits, with Ron Paul coming in second. The head-scratcher here is Rick Perry, finishing a distant sixth. Perhaps this will be a sign to suspend his campaign, and spend time trying to figure out that third branch of government he’d like to eliminate.
Gingrich and Santorum are battling it out for fourth, with Jon Huntsman, a moderate with no money, no name recognition, and no redeeming value as a GOP candidate, finishing third.
Fox News calls it:
Mitt Romney has won the New Hampshire primary, Fox News projects, notching back-to-back victories in the first two contests of the presidential nominating season.
Fox News also projects that Ron Paul will finish second and Jon Huntsman will finish third. Rick Perry is projected to finish in sixth place — the rest of the night is shaping up to be a race for fourth, between Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. Both candidates are pulling in 10 percent of the vote.
“Tonight, we made history,” Romney said. “Tonight we celebrate, tomorrow we go back to work.”
This should pick off a few pretenders heading into South Carolina. If Mitt wins SC, it’ll be wrapped up…
