Cleaning crews spent hours power washing Trump International Hotel Thursday morning after protesters sprayed graffiti and threw blue paint on the building.
Secret Service moved to install barriers around the building after a large protest outside the hotel Wednesday night got out of hand. Protesters carrying signs decrying racism and bigotry vented their anger over Donald Trump’s victory chanting “No Trump! No KKK! No racist USA!,” reports WJLA.
Protesters hurled blue paint at the hotel and spray-painted the building. The vandalism forced workers to spend the morning cleaning up the protesters’ mess.

Students at American University burned an American flag earlier Wednesday in protest of Trump’s election. Before the protests ignited outside Trump International Hotel, an anti-Trump rally was held outside of the White House. Protesters were also found marching through the streets of Northwest, D.C., reports NBC Washington.
“As a native Washingtonian, I hate to have this to happen in my town,” Rebecca Lindrew, a protester, told NBC4. “We’re trying to do whatever it takes to sort of unite people and to get them together and to unite against racism and bigotry and misogyny.”
President Barack Obama will meet with Trump, the man he repeatedly called “unfit” for the office, at the White House Thursday to discuss the upcoming transition of power.
Protests erupted around the District Wednesday following the shocking defeat of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the presidential election. Trump called on Americans to “come together as one united people” following the election results, but many Democrats in the area lamented his victory as a sign of widespread racism and hatred.
