“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.”
– Terrence Mann, Field of Dreams
Perhaps President Obama has been romanticizing baseball a bit too much of late. He’s so enamored by it, that after doing the wave with his communist dictator buddy, Raul Castro, Obama proclaimed today that attending baseball games “is how we are going to defeat” terrorist groups like ISIS.
No seriously, he said that.
Take a look …
President Obama argued today that his attendance at a baseball game with Cuba’s Raul Castro “is how we are going to defeat these terrorist groups” like ISIS.
“I mentioned at the baseball game yesterday, one of my proudest moments as president was watching Boston respond after the Boston marathon attack, because they taught America a lesson,” Obama explained. “They grieved, I was there for the memorial, we apprehended those who carried this out. But a few days later folks were out shopping. A few days later people were in that baseball stadium and, you know, singing the national anthem, and Big Papi was saying what he felt about Boston, Boston strong, and how a terrorist attack was not going to change the basic spirit of that city.”
“Well, at that moment he spoke about what America is, and that is how — that is how we are going to defeat these terrorist groups, in part because we’re going after them and taking strikes against them and arresting them and getting intelligence on them and cooperating with other countries,” he continued. “But a lot of it is also going to be to say you do not have power over us. We are strong. Our values are right.”
Of course, Obama has used the ‘go do normal things’ advice to victims of terrorism before. In fact, he’s specifically urged people to ‘go shopping’ as a way to combat terrorism.
Obama: keep shopping, defeat ISIS

Obama "All Americans have a role to play in response to threats" aka go shopping. We are NOT fearful we are resolute to kill these bastards!

For a man who has already professed to have no strategy in combating ISIS, to suggest to others ‘hey, no worries, just go shopping or something,’ seems uniquely out of tune with the fear people are currently feeling.
Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, whose country is on high alert following this week’s attack, said the following about security and potential targets for terrorists shortly after the Paris massacre:
“We are very alert and call for caution,” Michel said. “The potential targets remain the same; shopping centers and shopping streets and public transport.”
But hey, we’ll defeat them through shopping and baseball.
It should be noted that the President himself previously ripped George W. Bush for allegedly telling people to go shopping after the 9/11 attacks.
Via Fox News:
SEN. BARACK OBAMA, PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE: A lot of you remember the tragedy of 9/11 and where you were on that day.
And President Bush did some smart things at the outset, but one of the opportunities that was missed was, when he spoke to the American people, he said, “Go out and shop.”
That’s not quite what he said, but the point remains this – Obama thought it was stupid, and a missed opportunity for Bush to tell people to ‘go shop’ after a major terrorist attack. Yet here we are, listening to him tell the world that the way to defeat ISIS is by going to baseball games and shopping.
This man is so far-removed from reality, and this comment proves it.
