What I’m about to reveal to you may be the dumbest controversy you’ve ever seen in all of politics. Might be. Until the next one.
Vice President Mike Pence, in an interview 15 years ago, stated that the only woman he’ll ever dine alone with, or attend events in which alcohol is served, is his wife.
Via the Washington Post:
The Pences were married in a Roman Catholic church in 1985 but later became evangelical Christians.
In 2002, Mike Pence told the Hill that he never eats alone with a woman other than his wife and that he won’t attend events featuring alcohol without her by his side, either.
Seems reasonable. The man is loyal to his wife, and would never cause her to have to question why he would need to be alone at dinner or sharing drinks with another woman. Many married men can probably relate to this – you simply don’t do things that may hurt your significant other.
So naturally, liberals took an admission of loyalty to one’s wife and compared it to holding women down through Sharia law. And no, we’re not kidding.
Xeni Jardin, a journalist for Boing Boing, claimed Pence’ admission means he won’t ever be in the same room with another woman.
“How is this different from extreme repressive interpretations of Islam (“Sharia Law!”) mocked by people like Mike Pence,” she asked on social media. “Sincere question.”
Sincere question. How is this different from extreme repressive interpretations of Islam ("Sharia Law!") mocked by people like Mike Pence

This is stunningly moronic coming from someone who professes to be a journalist.
But Jardin is not alone. A contributing editor at Pitchfork came to the same conclusion on the Sharia law angle:
So the GOP is up in arms over Sharia law, yet Mike Pence won’t have a business meal with a woman that’s not his wife. Sure, that checks out.

Loyalty to one’s wife now equates to Sharia law according to our friends on the left. These are the same people who praised former President Bill Clinton for his ‘I met a girl‘ speech at this year’s DNC, knowing full well his sordid past of adultery and embarrassing his wife, that same ‘girl.’
Conservatives were quick to pounce:
Regarding Pence and his wife, his critics are used to the Oral Office, not Oval office, so a stand-up husband shocks them.

Huma Abedin would kill to be married to Mike Pence right now
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) March 30, 2017
That’s what we in the business call a ‘mic drop.’
The left’s interpretation of the sacrament of marriage has truly entered a bizarre world. As for us, we’re happy to see a man of Pence’s stature be perfectly loyal and in love with the woman he vowed to spend the rest of his life with.
Do you think Pence’ comments about his wife are a good thing? How would you respond to liberals who compare it to Sharia law? Share your thoughts below.
