Ever since witnesses started coming out of the woodwork in the wake of the Orlando attack, claiming that shooter Omar Mateen had actually led a secret gay lifestyle, the liberal media has been desperately trying to portray the massacre as more of a homophobic hate crime than a radical Islamic terrorist attack.
It allows the left to view the attack as proof that hatred of the LGBT community is separate from the Muslim faith.
The Daily Beast demonstrated that concept wholeheartedly when they ran an article titled, If Omar Mateen Was Gay, It Makes His LGBT Nightclub Attack More Homophobic.
The subheading stated: “Conservatives turned flimsy evidence into proof that the Pulse massacre was about Islam, not gay hate. The exact opposite may be true.”
The piece actually went on to blast conservatives for helping to spread homophobia and by extension were a reason Mateen may have committed this act.
“The clueless reaction to (the attack) among some conservatives illustrates a fundamental misunderstanding of homophobia and their own role in propagating it,” the Beast wrote.
They weren’t alone. The Guardian claimed that Mateen’s sexuality made Donald Trump’s reaction to the shooting “stupid,” mocking him for not understanding the complexity of self-hate for gay men.
It was a coordinated attempt by the media to spin the narrative, to protect Islam at all costs, despite evidence to the contrary.
Unfortunately for them, the FBI has finally come out and said the entire narrative that Mateen was a self-hating gay man has no evidence to back it up.
In the aftermath of the attack on the Orlando gay night club that left 49 dead and 53 injured, a multitude of rumors circulated that that the man responsible,Omar Mateen, led a secret gay life style. Individuals came forward and told reporters stories that they remembered seeing Mateen at gay clubs, or communicated with him on gay dating apps like Grindr. On Thursday, FBI Agents investigating every detail of Mateen’s life, especially in the months and weeks leading up the attack, announced they have found no evidence to support such claims.
According to the LA Times, FBI investigators have been going throughall of Mateen’s electronic devices and his digital history, along with the devices of some of the individuals who have made public claims about knowing Mateen prior to the shooting.
The newspaper reports:
“So far, they have found no photographs, no text messages, no smartphone apps, no gay pornography and no cell-tower location data to suggest that Mateen — who was twice married to women and had a young son — conducted a secret gay life, the officials said.”
FBI Agents continue to probe the claims, but investigators now increasingly believe the people making these claims are being untruthful or are confusing Mateen with someone else.
And just like that, the media narrative has crumbled.
Orlando was only a hate crime in the sense that radical Islamists – not conservatives – despise the LGBT community. One only need travel to the Middle East to understand that reality.
This is proof, hands down, that the worst mass shooting on American soil was indeed a radical Islamic terror attack.
