Former president Bill Clinton openly mocked Donald Trump supporters as “your standard redneck” at a voter rally for his wife Hillary on Tuesday.
“You know, look man, the other guy’s base is what I grew up in,” Clinton chided. “I was basically your standard redneck.”
Merriam-Webster defines the term ‘redneck’ as disparaging, a person “who is seen by others as being uneducated and having opinions and attitudes that are offensive.”
More importantly, it refers to white, small-town southerners. In other words, a group of people the Clintons look upon as irredeemable racists.
That’s what Bill Clinton thinks of you, Trump fans – uneducated, offensive, racists. In a word, deplorable.

Former president Bill Clinton mocked Donald Trump’s supporters as “your standard redneck” on Tuesday at a voters’ registration event supporting his wife’s presidential campaign.
Clinton characterized Trump’s supporters as part of the culture that he was raised up in while in Arkansas. Clinton was governor of the state before becoming president.
“Look man, the other guy’s base is what I grew up in,” Clinton said. “You know, I’m basically your standard redneck.”
This is not the first time that Clinton has mocked Trump’s supporters. Last month, Clinton joked about the “coal people” that support Trump in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. He said that he was confused by those people because they used to support him, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
Recently leaked emails show top Clinton campaign aides disparaging the entire south, referring to them still as the “confederacy” and the “Confederate States of America.”
The disdain the Clinton campaign, Bill, and Hillary have for southerners is systemic.
