New reports indicate that a multi-agency effort is underway to locate a federal employee who delivered a treasure trove of top-secret documents to WikiLeaks.

The individual that is the focus of the manhunt is believed to be an insider, an employee within the CIA, or possibly even a contractor.

The CIA and FBI have both launched an investigation into who handed WikiLeaks documents that revealed how government agencies are capable of hacking into your smartphone, laptop, or smart television sets.

CBS News has learned that a manhunt is underway for a traitor inside the Central Intelligence Agency.

The CIA and FBI are conducting a joint investigation into one of the worst security breaches in CIA history, which exposed thousands of top-secret documents that described CIA tools used to penetrate smartphones, smart televisions and computer systems.

Sources familiar with the investigation say it is looking for an insider — either a CIA employee or contractor — who had physical access to the material. The agency has not said publicly when the material was taken or how it was stolen.

Much of the material was classified and stored in a highly secure section of the intelligence agency, but sources say hundreds of people would have had access to the material. Investigators are going through those names.

The document dump was described by WikiLeaks as “the largest ever publication of confidential documents on the agency,” and included well over 8,000 pages of confidential details from the CIA.

Democrats and even President Trump’s CIA Director Mike Pompeo have been pushing the theory that WikiLeaks is a Russian puppet, but some of the more serious classified data breaches appear to have come from within.

Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Mike Pompeo, recently blasted WikiLeaks as a “hostile intelligence service” that colludes with Russian actors to the detriment of the United States.

“It is time to call out WikiLeaks for what it really is: A non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia,” he said.

It turns out however, that hundreds of people within the CIA had access to those classified and supposedly secured documents. At least one of them appears to have delivered them to WikiLeaks.

The Russian narrative, pushed incessantly by the left since Donald Trump rose to prominence, is quickly crumbling.

This is another major leak that has come not from foreign hackers, but from insiders within the U.S. government.

This past December, former British Ambassador and current WikiLeaks operative, Craig Murray, tossed a cold wet blanket on the Russian conspiracy theory in regards to leaks at the DNC.

Murray said he had personally met the person who leaked DNC and Clinton campaign emails, and they weren’t Russian.

In fact, he pointed a finger directly at a disgruntled DNC worker as the source of their information.

That now makes two newsworthy leaks, with zero Russian hackers involved.
