Several people have been shot outside the Empire State building this morning.  Some reports indicate that as many as 10 people have been injured, while the gunman has been reportedly shot dead by police.

According to the AP:

Law enforcement officials in New York City say at least four people have been shot outside the Empire State Building in violence that stemmed from a workplace dispute, and that the gunman has been killed by police.

Police say as many as 10 people were injured, but it is unclear how many of them were hit by bullets.

The shooting happened at about 9 a.m. Friday at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue.

Fox News has reported that the workplace dispute was a result of the shooter being fired just yesterday.

Sky News video indicates that two people have been confirmed dead, one of them being the shooter.

Before Bloomberg gets on his soapbox in 3… 2… 1… please keep in mind what instruments were used by police to stop the shooter.  Violence doesn’t end in a situation like this until the law-abiding folks with guns show up to stop the killing.
