Bill Maher, liberal comedian and host of HBO’s Real Time, is typically a left-wing buffoon, but when it comes to the topic of radical Islam he is never one to play the usual left-wing politically correct game, or shy away from criticism.

Maher was particularly incensed with a recent incident in Rome, in which nude statues were covered up during a visit by the Iranian president, a move universally ripped as “respecting” Islamic culture at the expense of respect for others.

He said the world needs to stop catering to the “backwards” culture of Islam.

Via Fox News Insider:

The HBO host said there’s a difference between tolerance and capitulation.

“It’s one thing to be tolerant of another culture, but this is our culture. … We shouldn’t change our culture to a more backward culture, should we?”

Maher stepped up his criticism of Islam.

“I’m sorry to say it, but the more you know (about Islam), the more you would be afraid.”

Maher continued by saying liberals need to stop labeling critics of Islam as Islamophobic.

“Liberals have to stop insisting that the world is the way they want it to be, instead of the way that it is.”

He later reiterated “You can not just insist that the reality that you think about in your head, is the reality that exists in the world.”

If that isn’t the most appropriate description of liberalism in general, and more specifically in regards to how they view Islamic terrorism specifically, we don’t know what is.
