Attorney General Jeff Sessions just drew a line in the sand against ‘sanctuary cities’ – comply with federal immigration law or lose billions in federal funding.
Sessions spoke out against the dangerous sanctuary policies – in which local officials refuse to comply with federal authorities in cases involving criminal illegal aliens – at the White House earlier today.
He warned that not only will the Justice Department withhold billions in funds to those cities which do not comply, but that he’d even make an effort to have past funds returned!

Ladies and gentleman – a new sheriff is in town!
Via the Washington Times:
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Monday he’ll begin punishing sanctuary cities, withholding potentially billions of dollars in federal money — and even clawing back funds that had been doled out in the past.
Speaking at the White House, Mr. Sessions said his department is preparing to dole out more than $4 billion in funds this year, but will try prevent any of it from going to sanctuaries.
“Countless Americans would be alive today … if these policies of sanctuary cities were ended,” Mr. Sessions said.
He said he’s carrying out a policy laid out by the Obama administration last year, which identified three grant programs — the COPS grants, Byrne grants and State Criminal Alien Assistance Program money — that already require sanctuary certification.
I love our AG Sessions: Warning our Federal Government will insist on cities and states to adhere to laws! https://t.co/CzP1l3pLb0

Just last week, the Trump administration shamed 118 ‘sanctuary’ jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with the federal government regarding criminal illegal immigrants. Those jurisdictions listed in the Department of Homeland Security’s Weekly Declined Detainer Outcome Report were warned that they could lose federal funding for their illegal policies.
Now, the Attorney General is doubling down on those threats, telling sanctuary cities to start complying or suffer the consequences.
“I urge our nation’s states and cities to consider carefully the harm they are doing to their citizens by refusing to enforce our immigration laws, and to rethink these policies,” Sessions said from the White House. “Such policies make their cities and states less safe, and put them at risk of losing valuable federal dollars.”
